Under-Sink Organizers That Actually Fit Around the Pipes

Measure three things, then choose an organizer shape that works with your drain and disposal. No drilling.

Updated 2026-10-01

Most kitchen under-sink cabinets lose the middle to the drain pipe, the disposal and the water lines. Standard two-tier organizers are designed for an empty box, so they bump into the pipe and stop halfway. Start with the constraint, then pick the shape.

Measure these first

WIDTH HEIGHT TRAP
  1. Clear width inside the face frameMeasure between the cabinet frame edges, not the doors. This is the widest unit you can slide in.
  2. Depth to the back wall and depth to the pipeWrite down both numbers. A unit deeper than the distance to the pipe will not slide all the way in.
  3. Height under the drain trapThe lowest point of the U-shaped pipe sets the maximum height for anything that sits below it.

Pick the shape that fits

Two narrow pull-outs, one on each side of the pipe

Works when the pipe drops straight down in the middle and each side has a few inches of clear width.

Height-adjustable or U-shaped two-tier unit

Straddles the pipe so you keep the full width of the cabinet floor.

Door rack for sponges, brushes and bags

Uses the inside of the door; check the door-to-pipe clearance before choosing one.

Picks that fit

Questions

Will a two-tier organizer work with a garbage disposal?

Measure the gap between the disposal and each cabinet side. Narrow single-column units usually fit on either side of it.

Do I need to drill anything?

Freestanding pull-outs sit on the cabinet floor. If you rent, choose freestanding units or door racks that hang over the door.
